Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian will arrive in Islamabad on Tuesday for a one-day official visit to express gratitude for Pakistan’s pivotal diplomatic role in brokering the recent US-Iran peace agreement .
According to sources, the Iranian president will arrive in the capital on Tuesday morning and depart for Tehran later the same day after completing his scheduled engagements .
President Pezeshkian is expected to meet with President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and other senior officials during his visit . Discussions are expected to cover bilateral relations, regional developments, and matters of mutual interest .
Pakistan’s Mediation Role
The visit comes as Pakistan has emerged as a key mediator between Washington and Tehran, culminating in the electronic signing of the “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding” last week . Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently told Parliament that Pakistan had earned global admiration for its mediation role, with leaders from Japan to Saudi Arabia acknowledging the country’s diplomatic achievement .
The Prime Minister disclosed that he had spoken with President Pezeshkian by telephone, during which the Iranian leader repeatedly expressed gratitude toward Pakistan for standing by Tehran through the conflict . PM Shehbaz extended a formal invitation for President Pezeshkian to visit Pakistan, which the Iranian leader accepted .
Diplomatic Context
The visit follows the conclusion of the first high-level US-Iran talks in Switzerland, mediated by Pakistan and Qatar, where both sides agreed on a 60-day roadmap toward a final peace agreement. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi recently traveled to Tehran to continue consultations regarding the Iran-US understanding .
Authorities have completed arrangements for the visit, with high-level meetings expected during the Iranian president’s stay .
