30 Newly Elected Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Members Take Oath

Gilgit, Pakistan – Web Desk: Thirty of the 33 newly elected members of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly took their oaths of office on Monday, with Speaker Nazir Ahmed Advocate administering the oath .

According to details, 13 members of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and 9 members of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) took the oath, along with 6 members of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) and 1 member of the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) . A Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-supported independent candidate was also among those who took the oath .

The oath-taking ceremony was conducted during a session that was subsequently adjourned until 3:00 PM . When the session resumes, the assembly will elect the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and the Leader of the House .

Three Members Await Oath

Three members were unable to take their oaths due to a court order suspending the official notification for their constituencies. These include one constituency in Skardu and two in Diamer district .

PPP Nominee for Chief Minister

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Peoples Party has nominated Amjad Hussain Advocate as its candidate for the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan .
