Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Iran has called for continued efforts to ease tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan and stressed that regional conflict benefits no one. Iranian Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam, speaking at the Islamabad Institute of Strategic Studies, highlighted the importance of Pakistan-Iran cooperation amid regional challenges.
The ambassador noted that the recent Israel-Iran conflict forced Israel into a tactical retreat and negotiations. He expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s support during the 12-day Israeli aggression against Iran, highlighting that such events have strengthened Pakistan-Iran relations.
Moghadam pointed out that over the past year, 25 high-level Iranian delegations visited Pakistan, and bilateral trade remains strong. He also praised Pakistan for opposing an Iran-related resolution at Geneva, dealing a political setback to the United States.
The ambassador emphasized that terrorism and separatism remain shared challenges for Pakistan and Iran, warning that both countries’ adversaries exploit these threats. He reiterated that Pakistan and Iran reject any separatist movements, maintain close cooperation at regional and global forums, and are committed to supporting Palestine while opposing Israeli aggression.
He added that Iran’s nuclear program has been repeatedly certified as peaceful by the IAEA since 2015. Israel, he said, serves as a U.S. proxy in the region, and past Israeli actions in Lebanon aimed to protect its occupied territories. Iran continues to support a two-state solution for Palestine.
