Iran Warns US Over Hormuz Interference Amid Tensions

Date:

Tehran, Iran – Web Desk:Iran has issued a strong warning to the United States, stating that any interference in the Strait of Hormuz will be considered a violation of the current ceasefire framework, further escalating tensions in the region.

Abraham Azizi, head of Iran’s National Security Council, said that American involvement in the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf would not be accepted under any circumstances.

He dismissed recent remarks by US leadership, saying that maritime affairs in the region cannot be governed through political statements or unilateral declarations.

Azizi emphasized that Iran considers the management of these vital waterways a matter of national sovereignty and regional security, warning that any external intervention could destabilize already fragile maritime conditions.

His comments came after US President Donald Trump announced a new initiative aimed at ensuring safe passage for vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, including what he described as a “Freedom Project” to assist ships trapped in the region.

Trump stated that neutral vessels would be provided safe passage through Hormuz, signaling increased US naval activity in the strategic shipping lane.

The exchange marks a sharp escalation in rhetoric between Tehran and Washington amid ongoing geopolitical tensions affecting global energy routes and international shipping security.
