Iran Sets Conditions for Indian Ships to Pass Strait of Hormuz

Date:

Tehran/New Delhi – Web Desk: Iran has reportedly set conditions for allowing Indian vessels to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, a key global shipping route, amid heightened regional tensions.

According to reports, Tehran has asked India to return three Iranian ships in exchange for safe passage of Indian vessels through the strait. However, Indian authorities have denied receiving or accepting such a demand.

The development follows earlier reports that India had taken control of three Iranian oil tankers prior to the escalation of the conflict, during a period of ongoing trade negotiations with the United States.

According to Reuters, Iran has also requested the supply of medicines and medical equipment from India alongside the return of its vessels.

Reports indicate that around 22 Indian ships are currently stranded in or near the Strait of Hormuz, raising concerns over global trade disruptions and maritime security in the region.

The situation underscores the growing impact of geopolitical tensions on international shipping and energy supply chains.
