Deputy PM Ishaq Dar Discusses Release of Pakistani Hostages with Somali Foreign Minister

ISLAMABAD – Web Desk: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Somali Foreign Minister Abdul Salam Ali to discuss ongoing efforts for the release of Pakistani hostages aboard the hijacked vessel MT Honour 25, according to a Foreign Office statement.

Dar expressed Pakistan’s deep concern over the situation, emphasizing the well-being of the hostages, their early release, and safe return to the homeland. Somalia’s Foreign Minister assured that his government is making sincere and continuous efforts for the early release of the hostages.

Pakistan has remained in constant contact with Somali authorities since the ship’s hijacking off the Somali coast in April 2026. Both leaders agreed to maintain close contact and mutual cooperation until the matter is resolved. The foreign ministers also expressed satisfaction over positive developments in bilateral relations between Pakistan and Somalia, with the Somali minister appreciating Pakistan’s constructive mediation and diplomatic efforts in the region.
