Iran Envoy Denies Mojtaba Khamenei Treated in Moscow

Date:

Moscow, Russia – Web Desk: Iran’s ambassador to Russia has firmly rejected media reports claiming that Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is undergoing medical treatment in Moscow, calling the allegations “false propaganda” amid rising regional tensions.

According to Russian state media, Iranian Ambassador Kazem Jalali dismissed reports suggesting that Mojtaba Khamenei had been transferred to a Russian hospital for treatment. In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Jalali criticized what he described as a pattern of misinformation, saying false narratives are repeatedly circulated by certain media outlets.

He added that earlier claims had alleged that Iran’s leadership had fled to countries such as Venezuela and Russia, and now similar reports were being spread regarding medical treatment abroad. Jalali termed the reports part of a “psychological warfare campaign” targeting Iran’s leadership.

“The leaders of Iran neither need to flee nor hide in shelters; their place is among the people,” he stated, emphasizing the resilience of the Iranian public and the capabilities of the country’s armed forces.

The denial follows a report by Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Jarida, which claimed that 56-year-old Mojtaba Khamenei had been injured in an alleged assassination attempt targeting his father and was later transferred to Moscow for treatment at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Separately, a senior Iranian official said Mojtaba Khamenei had rejected proposals aimed at reducing tensions with the United States. During a foreign policy session, he reportedly dismissed mediation efforts by intermediary countries, stating that the current situation was “not a time for peace” and calling for resistance against the US and Israel.

The developments come amid heightened geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, with Iran reiterating its stance on sovereignty, regional security, and opposition to foreign intervention.
