Tehran, Iran – Web Desk: Iran has blamed the United States and Israel for rising tensions and disruptions to maritime traffic in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, as regional instability continues to escalate.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the ongoing difficulties in ship movement through the waterway were a direct consequence of a conflict initiated by Washington and Tel Aviv.
“Blaming Iran for the current situation is contrary to the facts,” Araghchi said in a statement, adding that Tehran would not be intimidated by threats and would take all necessary measures to safeguard its national interests.
He further warned that the uncertainty and security risks in the region stem from actions by external powers escalating tensions.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry reiterated the stance, holding the United States and Israel directly responsible for the deteriorating situation and increased risks in one of the world’s most critical oil transit routes.
The developments come after Donald Trump warned Iran that failure to fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz for maritime traffic within 48 hours could trigger a strong response.
The Strait of Hormuz, through which a significant portion of global oil shipments passes, remains a focal point of geopolitical tensions, with any disruption raising concerns over energy security and global trade.
