President, Prime Minister Extend Greetings on 86th Pakistan Day

Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Pakistan marked the 86th Pakistan Day with messages of unity and resolve from top leadership, as President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended heartfelt greetings to the nation.

In his message, President Zardari described March 23, 1940, as a defining moment when Muslims of the subcontinent adopted the Lahore Resolution, laying the foundation for an independent state where citizens could live according to Islamic principles.

He paid tribute to the sacrifices of the country’s founding leaders and citizens, noting that Pakistan overcame significant early challenges through unity, determination, and collective effort.

Zardari highlighted the country’s progress in building strong state institutions, achieving a robust defense capability, and becoming a nuclear power. He also honored national heroes, martyrs, and veterans for their contributions to the country’s security and stability.

Referring to the fight against terrorism, the president said Pakistan had waged a long and successful campaign, while also demonstrating unity and resilience during natural disasters. He emphasized that the country continues to face internal and external challenges, calling national cohesion the key to overcoming them.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message, described Pakistan Day as a historic milestone when Muslim leadership united to pursue an independent homeland.

He credited the vision of Allama Iqbal for shaping the idea of a state that safeguards the constitutional and political rights of Muslims.

Sharif said the creation of Pakistan on August 14, 1947, was the result of immense sacrifices, and described the country’s journey from a nascent state to a nuclear power as a testament to resilience and determination.

The prime minister also pointed to economic improvements, saying the government had steered the economy towards sustainable growth despite challenges, with inflation easing and investor confidence showing signs of recovery.

He praised the role of security forces in defending the country’s sovereignty, adding that ongoing counter-terrorism operations reflect national resolve and continue to strengthen Pakistan’s defense.

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to building a united, stable, and prosperous Pakistan through collective efforts and national solidarity.
