Deadly landslide in West Bandung leaves 7 dead, dozens missing amid heavy rain alerts

West Bandung, Indonesia | Web Desk: A deadly landslide struck a village in West Java’s West Bandung region, killing seven people and leaving 82 others missing, officials confirmed Saturday. The Indonesian Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) reported ongoing search and rescue efforts, with teams working to locate those trapped under mud and debris.

Abdul Muhari, BNPB spokesperson, said, “The number of missing persons is high; we are optimizing our search and rescue efforts today.”

Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) had previously warned of extreme weather conditions, including heavy rainfall across West Java province for the past week, increasing the risk of landslides and flooding.

Local authorities have urged residents to remain cautious and avoid traveling to vulnerable areas while rescue operations continue.
