Centre Rejects Evacuation Claims in Tirah Valley

Information Ministry calls reports of military-ordered evacuation false and misleading

Islamabad, Pakistan | Web Desk: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Sunday strongly denied reports claiming that the military had ordered an evacuation of Tirah Valley, calling the information fabricated and intended to spread fear among local residents.

In an official clarification, the ministry stated that neither the federal government nor the armed forces have issued any directive for the forced evacuation of Tirah Valley. Authorities emphasized that any population movement in the area is strictly voluntary and linked to precautionary relief planning.

Officials clarified that security operations in the region are intelligence-based and focused solely on terrorist elements, with strict measures in place to ensure civilians remain unaffected.

According to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Relief, Rehabilitation, and Resettlement Department, a notification issued on December 26, 2025, approved Rs. 4 billion for advance preparedness in case residents voluntarily choose to relocate. The funds cover transport, food supplies, cash assistance, temporary shelter arrangements, and registration facilities.

Authorities noted that the proposed voluntary relocation reflects the wishes of the local population, conveyed through a district-level jirga. The process does not involve the establishment of displacement camps and considers weather conditions, administrative capacity, and community preferences.

The ministry reiterated that linking these relief preparations to the armed forces is false, defamatory, and politically motivated, aimed at undermining state institutions. Officials reaffirmed the government’s commitment to civilian safety, stability, and peace in Tirah Valley.
