Dhaka, Bangladesh – Web Desk: Pakistan star batter Babar Azam has resumed batting practice after recovering from a minor knee injury that ruled him out of the first Test against Bangladesh in Dhaka.
According to team sources, Babar trained extensively in the nets under the supervision of batting coach Asad Shafiq, while the team physiotherapist and trainer closely monitored his session.
The right-handed batter reportedly showed encouraging signs during practice and was seen running between the wickets without discomfort, boosting hopes of his return for the second Test.
Pakistan and Bangladesh are scheduled to play the second Test from May 16 to May 20 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
Sources within the team management said Babar’s injury was not considered serious and that the decision to rest him for the opening Test was taken purely as a precautionary measure.
Reports also clarified that Babar did not request to sit out the match himself, contrary to speculation circulating on social media. The decision was made entirely by team management to avoid aggravating the injury.
The former Pakistan captain has been in outstanding form in recent months. During the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League, Babar scored 588 runs and finished as the tournament’s leading run-scorer.
