Karachi, Pakistan – Web Desk: An additional district and sessions court in Karachi has issued notices to the SSP East and SHO Aziz Bhatti in connection with the alleged fake police encounter that resulted in the death of a young man in Isa Nagri.
The court directed the police officials to submit their responses by May 13 after hearing a petition filed by the victim’s father seeking registration of a case against police officers and personnel allegedly involved in the incident.
According to the petition, the victim, identified as Hammad, worked with his father in a perfume business at Lighthouse Market in Karachi. The petitioner stated that Hammad was allegedly attacked by robbers in Isa Nagri, where he was reportedly beaten during a robbery attempt.
The petition further claimed that Hammad’s friend, Shehryar, arrived at the scene in his vehicle and opened fire at the suspected robbers using a licensed pistol, after which the suspects fled the area in a car.
The victim’s father alleged that police personnel then opened fire on Hammad and Shehryar instead of pursuing the alleged robbers. Hammad was killed in the firing, while Shehryar was taken into custody.
The application named DIG East, SSP East and SHO Aziz Bhatti as respondents, while ASI Raja Imran, Constable Aitizaz Ahmed and Constable Waqas Bashir were nominated as accused officers.
The petitioner also alleged that police later registered three false cases against Hammad and Shehryar in an attempt to conceal the incident. The court proceedings are ongoing as authorities review the allegations surrounding the police encounter.
