COLOMBO, SRI LANKA – Web Desk: Australia delivered a commanding performance against Ireland in the 14th match of the T20 World Cup 2026, securing a 67-run victory on Thursday. Chasing a target of 183 runs, Ireland were bowled out for 115 in just 16.5 overs, falling well short of the mark.

George Dockrell top-scored for Ireland with 41 runs, while Lorcan Tucker added 21. Captain Paul Stirling retired hurt after scoring a solitary run. Australia’s bowling attack was led by Nathan Ellis and Adam Zampa, each claiming four wickets, with Matthew Kuhnemann taking an additional scalp.

Earlier, Australia set a competitive total of 182 for six in their allotted 20 overs. Marcus Stoinis played a scintillating 45 off 29 balls, while Matty Renshaw and Josh Inglis contributed 37 runs each to strengthen the total. Cameron Green chipped in with 21, and Glenn Maxwell added nine runs. Wicketkeeper Cooper Connolly remained unbeaten on 11, while Travis Head managed six runs before being run out.

For Ireland, Mark Adair claimed two wickets, supported by Dockrell and Harry Tector, who each dismissed one Australian batsman. Australia’s balanced batting and devastating bowling display ensured they dominated the match from start to finish.

The victory reinforces Australia’s strong position in the group stages of the T20 World Cup, highlighting their depth in both batting and bowling departments. Analysts noted that Ellis and Zampa’s lethal spells could prove decisive in Australia’s pursuit of the title.

As the tournament progresses, Ireland will look to bounce back, while Australia aims to maintain momentum and solidify their status as title contenders.
