British Woman Shot Dead by Father in Texas After Argument Over Trump

Date:

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – A tragic incident in Prosper, Texas, has left 23-year-old British national Lucy Harrison dead after she was allegedly shot by her father during a family dispute on January 10. Harrison had traveled from London with her boyfriend, Sam Littler, to spend holidays with her parents.

Court documents revealed that a heated discussion over former U.S. President Donald Trump escalated between Harrison and her father, Chris Harrison. The argument reportedly intensified when Lucy questioned how her father would feel if a sexual assault victim were in her position. According to the father’s alleged remarks, he implied that he would be less affected because he had two other daughters, leaving Lucy visibly upset.

Later, about thirty minutes before her scheduled departure to the airport, Harrison was reportedly brought to a downstairs bedroom by her father, who intended to show her his Glock 9mm pistol. Littler told authorities that shortly afterward, he heard a gunshot and found Lucy on the floor while her father appeared panicked.

In his written statement, Chris Harrison said he and Lucy had been watching news about gun-related crimes and that the firearm discharged accidentally. He could not recall whether his finger was on the trigger. He admitted to having a history of alcohol use and reportedly consumed alcohol on the day of the incident. Police officers at the scene confirmed detecting the smell of alcohol, and surveillance footage later showed him purchasing liquor.

Initial investigations considered the possibility of a “manslaughter” case. However, the Collin County grand jury declined to issue formal charges, delaying the criminal proceedings. The next court hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, when the jury is expected to deliver its findings.

Lucy Harrison’s mother, Jane Coates, described her daughter as a spirited and principled individual. Harrison worked for the British fashion brand Boohoo and had been in the United States for a brief holiday visit. The case has shocked both British and U.S. communities, highlighting the devastating consequences of domestic disputes.
