Beijing, China – Web Desk: China has welcomed the initial progress in US-Iran reconciliation efforts, urging the swift reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and praising Pakistan’s diplomatic role in facilitating dialogue between the two sides.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said in a media briefing in Beijing that the Strait of Hormuz is a vital international shipping route and should be fully reopened as soon as possible to ensure stability in global trade and energy supply chains.
He described the emerging understanding between Washington and Tehran as a positive development, adding that China supports all efforts aimed at reducing tensions through diplomatic engagement.
Lin also acknowledged Pakistan’s mediation efforts, saying Beijing appreciates Islamabad’s role in helping advance negotiations and foster communication between the parties involved.
China reiterated that easing regional tensions would benefit not only the Middle East but also the global economy, and called on all parties to prioritize dialogue and peaceful resolution of disputes.
The Strait of Hormuz is considered one of the world’s most critical energy chokepoints, through which a significant portion of global oil and gas shipments pass, making its stability a key concern for international markets.
