Tehran, Iran – Web Desk: Iran has said that its upcoming agreement with the United States does not mean Tehran will forgive or forget the losses and alleged war crimes committed during the recent conflict, as both sides prepare to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Geneva on Friday.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei said the agreement includes discussions on the return of Iran’s frozen overseas assets and compensation for damages caused by military operations involving the United States and Israel.
Speaking at a press conference, Baghaei said Iranian delegations would visit several regional and neighboring countries ahead of the signing ceremony. He described the agreement as an important diplomatic step but stressed that accountability for wartime losses remains a key issue for Tehran.
He praised the resilience of the Iranian people during the 110-day conflict and said the country would not forget the sacrifices made by its leadership, military personnel, and civilians.
Baghaei also accused Israel of continuing military operations in Lebanon and the Palestinian territories, while criticizing international organizations for what he described as a failure to condemn attacks against Iran.
According to the spokesperson, the MoU includes provisions related to Lebanon, emphasizing respect for the country’s sovereignty and security. He added that Iran and regional partners, with assistance from Oman, would work to ensure safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
Baghaei reiterated that Iran does not support imposing tolls on vessels transiting through the strategic waterway and said the final procedures for signing the agreement would be completed in the coming days.
He concluded by saying that while Iran remains committed to honoring the agreement, the United States still has a long way to go in rebuilding trust with the Iranian people.
