Trump says Iran operation paused after Pakistan’s intervention request

Date:

Washington, United States – Web Desk: U.S. President Donald Trump has said that Washington could have taken action against Iran similar to Venezuela but halted operations following a request from Pakistan.

In an interview with a U.S. television channel, Trump said Iran would not be granted sanctions relief in exchange for reducing its highly enriched uranium stockpile, adding that a potential agreement with Tehran has not yet reached its final stage and that Washington remains unconvinced.

He claimed that Iran had been attempting to delay negotiations, but insisted that Tehran has limited options, saying a deal will either be reached or the matter will be “completed through other means.”

Trump further stated that Iran is negotiating from a weakened position and emphasized that the United States is not currently discussing easing sanctions. He also said he would not be satisfied if Iran transferred enriched uranium to Russia or China.

Referring to maritime security, Trump said the Strait of Hormuz will remain open for all countries, adding that no single power will be allowed to control it. He indicated that normal shipping activity would resume once a framework agreement with Iran is reached.

Trump also praised Pakistan’s leadership, naming Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as “strong personalities,” while noting that U.S. casualties in the Iran-related conflict had been significantly lower compared to past wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
