Karachi, Pakistan – Web Desk: Karachi is facing a severe water crisis as large parts of the city remain without supply, with authorities warning that the disruption could continue for the next three to four days.
According to sources, repair work at the Dhabeji Pumping Station is still underway after a major technical fault caused a breakdown in multiple water transmission lines.
Due to ongoing maintenance, seven pumping units remain non-operational, significantly reducing the water supply to the city’s distribution network. As a result, millions of gallons of water are not being delivered to Karachi daily.
The disruption began on April 27 when a power breakdown at the pumping station reportedly led to damage in three major supply lines. While one line has been restored, repair work on two critical lines is still incomplete even after six days.
Areas affected include Korangi, Landhi, Gulistan-e-Johar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Liaquatabad, PIB Colony, Nazimabad, Malir, Shah Faisal Colony, and surrounding localities, where residents are facing severe shortages.
Officials from the water authority said restoration work is expected to be completed by Sunday, but normal supply across the city may take an additional 24 hours to stabilize after repairs are finished.
Sources warned that Karachi’s water crisis is likely to persist for another three to four days, leaving residents struggling amid rising temperatures and demand.
