Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has strongly condemned what he described as targeted attacks by Afghan Taliban forces on innocent civilians along Pakistan’s border areas, calling the incidents “unacceptable and inhumane.”
He said that repeated acts of violence in border districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reflect what he termed a brutal and unlawful pattern of conduct by the Afghan side.
Referring to recent incidents, Tarar stated that civilians, including children and women, have been affected by cross-border attacks. He cited reports from Bajaur where earlier shelling allegedly resulted in civilian casualties and injuries.
He also mentioned a recent incident in which a drone-like quadcopter was reportedly used, injuring three individuals while they were playing cricket in a local area. He said such actions deliberately target civilian gatherings.
The minister asserted that Pakistan’s security forces only target militant infrastructure and avoid civilian harm, adding that operations are carried out with transparency and in accordance with verified intelligence.
He further stated that Pakistan has consistently shared information regarding operations against terrorist networks operating across the border, emphasizing that efforts are focused solely on dismantling militant infrastructure.
Tarar reiterated that Pakistan’s response against what he termed “extremist elements and their facilitators” is based on principles of national security, while accusing opposing elements of deliberately targeting civilians.
