Unemployment Tragedy: Karachi Youth, Man Die by Suicide

Date:

Karachi, Pakistan – Web Desk: Two separate tragic incidents were reported in Karachi, where financial hardship and unemployment are believed to have contributed to the deaths of a young man and another individual, police and rescue officials said on Friday.

In the first incident, a 26-year-old man identified as Muhammad Anas was found dead at his residence in the Landhi area. Police said he was the only brother of two sisters and lived with his mother in a rented house.

Authorities stated that the deceased, who had completed education up to matriculation, was actively searching for employment. According to police, domestic financial pressure and unemployment reportedly led to a distressing situation at home prior to the incident.

Family members and neighbors expressed deep grief as the body was brought home, with scenes of mourning reported in the locality.

In a separate incident in the Bin Qasim area near Port Qasim, a 39-year-old man identified as Ashiq Ali was recovered from a water reservoir after allegedly jumping in.

According to Rescue 1122 officials, the body was retrieved after an extensive search operation and shifted to hospital for legal formalities.

Police said initial findings suggest the man may have taken his own life, and video footage reportedly showed him jumping into the reservoir. However, investigators stated that the exact motive behind the incident is still under review.

Both bodies were handed over to the families after completion of legal procedures.
