Melbourne, Australia – Web Desk: Australian all-rounder Will Sutherland has been ruled out of the upcoming T20 Blast due to a shoulder injury, dealing a setback to Yorkshire County Cricket Club.
Sutherland, who was set to represent Yorkshire in the tournament, has been diagnosed with a stress fracture in his shoulder following the Sheffield Shield final last month. The club confirmed he will not be available for the entire season.
The 24-year-old, who captains Victoria and Melbourne Renegades, had previously impressed during his stint with Yorkshire, featuring in three County Championship matches and 12 T20 Blast games last year.
Yorkshire General Manager Gavin Hamilton described Sutherland as a “very popular” member of the squad and said he was expected to play a key role this season, including in two Championship matches and the full T20 Blast campaign.
A club spokesperson confirmed that a replacement will be announced in due course, while the team extended best wishes for Sutherland’s recovery.
