Karachi, Pakistan – Web Desk: Police registered a case against members of Jamaat-e-Islami following a protest outside the Sindh Assembly that turned violent. According to authorities, 30 individuals affiliated with the party were arrested during the demonstrations.
The FIR was filed at Aram Bagh police station against 34 named suspects and 325 unidentified participants. Charges include rioting, vandalism, obstruction of government work, violation of Section 144, and anti-terrorism provisions.
During the protest, police officers and personnel sustained injuries while attempting to control the situation. Senior Jamaat-e-Islami leaders, including Safyan Dila, Usman Sharif, Faizan, and Jawad Shoaib, reportedly incited the crowd through speeches and slogans.
Approximately 300–325 individuals took part in the protest, some armed with sticks, rods, and other weapons. The mob reportedly attacked police officers, including Inspector Raja Masood, SHO Preddy Ayub Mirani, SHO Inspector Shah Faisal Khan, and Constable Zohaib.
Authorities employed anti-riot measures and announcements via megaphone urging dispersal. When the crowd remained unruly, police used tear gas to restore order. In total, 30 protesters were arrested, and law enforcement recovered five .30-bore bullets, five 9mm casings, 15 rods, 35 stones of various sizes, and 79 tear gas shells. Government property, including police vehicle windows, was damaged during the unrest.
