North Korea – Web Desk: North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has ordered an increase in missile production during a visit to an arms manufacturing facility, state media reported on Saturday.
During the inspection, Kim emphasized the need to expand production in line with the evolving operational requirements of the country’s military.
State media released images showing Kim reviewing dozens of Hwasong-11 short-range ballistic missiles (SRBMs), which play a key role in North Korea’s defense strategy.
Officials say the missiles are believed to be capable of carrying nuclear warheads and can target South Korea as well as U.S. military bases in the region.
Reports indicate that North Korea has recently been working to diversify the capabilities of the Hwasong-11 missile series, including variants equipped with cluster munitions, blackout bombs, and fragmentation warheads.
According to local media, the missile program has also become part of Pyongyang’s efforts to generate foreign currency through arms exports. The Hwasong-11A (KN-23) and Hwasong-11B (KN-24) systems have reportedly been supplied to Russia and used in the Ukraine conflict.
