India Unveils ‘Shesh Nag’ Suicide Drones, Clone of Iranian Shahed-136

Date:

ISLAMIC WORLD EXPO, SAUDI ARABIA – WEB DESK: India showcased its latest unmanned aerial systems at the World Defense Show 2026, introducing the “Shesh Nag” series of suicide drones, including a near-identical copy of the Iranian Shahed-136. The announcement marks a significant expansion of India’s tactical drone capabilities.

Developed by India’s defense technology firm New Space Research and Technologies (NSRT), the Shesh Nag series features two main variants: the Shesh Nag 150 and Shesh Nag 20. The Shesh Nag 150, prominently displayed at the expo, is a long-range autonomous drone designed for precision strikes over distances exceeding 1,000 kilometers. It can carry payloads ranging from 25 to 40 kilograms and operates with advanced swarm technology, allowing multiple drones to coordinate attacks simultaneously. The drone features a delta-wing design, enabling extended flight durations of up to five hours and high-speed maneuverability.

According to NSRT, the Shesh Nag 150 is positioned as a low-cost alternative to cruise missiles and can target command posts, air defense installations, and other strategic sites. Analysts note its potential as a countermeasure to Israeli Harop drones and Iranian Shahed-136 systems.

The Shesh Nag 20 is a smaller, electrically powered variant designed for tactical battlefield use. Canister-launched, it can be deployed rapidly from the ground or vehicles, with an operational range of 30 kilometers and flight time of approximately one hour. The drone’s wingspan measures two meters, carrying up to a five-kilogram warhead with a maximum weight of 20 kilograms. Advanced electro-optical and infrared sensors enable precise surveillance and targeting. The electric propulsion allows the drone to reach speeds up to 150 km/h and operate at altitudes of up to 6,000 meters.

NSRT highlighted that these drones enhance India’s autonomous strike capabilities and strengthen its position in regional defense technology markets. The company emphasized that the Shesh Nag system combines extended range, swarm tactics, and cost-effectiveness, signaling India’s intent to modernize its aerial combat arsenal.
