Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: A dispute erupted at New Islamabad International Airport after a woman passenger traveling to Saudi Arabia for Umrah was offloaded during the immigration clearance process, leading to the registration of a police case at the request of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
According to officials, the passenger, identified as Tameena Bibi from Attock, arrived at the airport to travel for Umrah when immigration authorities sought details regarding her hotel booking and supporting travel documents.
Officials said the passenger was unable to provide satisfactory responses and was referred to a secondary immigration counter for further scrutiny. After additional review, immigration staff reportedly informed her that her documentation was incomplete and she was subsequently offloaded from the flight.
The situation escalated when the passenger requested a written explanation for the offloading decision and allegedly began recording a video on her mobile phone. An argument reportedly followed between the passenger and FIA immigration personnel.
Sources said immigration officials asked the passenger to delete the video, while she insisted on receiving a written explanation regarding the decision. The disagreement led to her being detained at the airport and later handed over to airport police.
On the instructions of senior immigration officials, an FIA female sub-inspector submitted a complaint against the passenger. Authorities alleged that she attempted to record restricted proceedings and threatened staff members during the dispute.
Airport Police subsequently registered a case under relevant sections of the Pakistan Penal Code and transferred the woman to a women’s police station in Rawalpindi.
The incident has once again highlighted concerns regarding passenger offloading procedures and disputes arising from documentation verification at airports across Pakistan.
