Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt rejects media claims of disagreements between President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth over Iran, calling the reports inaccurate.
WASHINGTON, United States — WEB DESK: The White House has strongly denied media reports claiming that President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth were at odds over US policy toward Iran, describing the allegations as “completely false.”
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt rejected the claims in a statement posted on social media, saying a report published by The Washington Post inaccurately suggested disagreements between the president and his defense chief regarding the recent conflict involving Iran.
Leavitt said she was personally present with President Trump and Defense Secretary Hegseth at Camp David, asserting that the incident described in the report “never happened.”
According to the press secretary, the White House had informed The Washington Post on multiple occasions before publication that the report was inaccurate, but the newspaper proceeded with the story regardless.
Leavitt also accused some media organizations of repeatedly attempting to undermine Defense Secretary Hegseth, while emphasizing that President Trump continues to have full confidence in his defense secretary.
She said the president is satisfied with Hegseth’s performance and believes he is carrying out his responsibilities effectively.
The Washington Post report had claimed that differences emerged between Trump and Hegseth over the administration’s approach to Iran following recent military developments. However, the White House has categorically rejected those assertions.
The statement comes as the Trump administration’s strategy toward Iran and broader developments in the Middle East continue to attract significant international attention.
