Iran’s President Pezeshkian Says Contact with Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei Is ‘Very Difficult’

President Masoud Pezeshkian says Iran’s Supreme Leader remains a source of national strength despite limited direct communication amid ongoing regional tensions.

TEHRAN, Iran — WEB DESK: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said that direct contact with Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is currently “very difficult,” while emphasizing that the Supreme Leader’s leadership remains a vital source of strength for the country.

In an interview published on the official website of the Iranian presidency, Pezeshkian discussed Iran’s domestic and regional challenges, stating that although communication with the Supreme Leader is not easy under the current circumstances, his presence continues to play a crucial role in maintaining national stability.

The president also alleged that the United States and Israel targeted Iran’s former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on February 28, claiming they expected the country’s political structure to weaken and descend into crisis.

Pezeshkian said those expectations did not materialize, arguing that Iran’s institutions continued to function effectively despite mounting external pressure and security challenges.

According to the Iranian president, the country maintained national unity during difficult circumstances, with state institutions continuing to fulfill their responsibilities.

He stressed that internal cohesion, strong institutions and national stability remain essential for Iran to confront external pressure and evolving security threats.

Pezeshkian’s remarks come as Iran remains at the center of international attention due to heightened regional tensions, ongoing diplomatic efforts and security developments across the Middle East.

Neither the United States nor Israel has officially responded to the claims made by the Iranian president.
