US Imposes New Sanctions on Iranian Financial and Shipping Networks

Date:

WASHINGTON D.C. – Web Desk: The United States has imposed a fresh round of sanctions on Iranian financial and shipping networks, targeting individuals, currency exchange services, and 19 vessels linked to the Islamic Republic.

According to the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the new sanctions aim to disrupt Iran’s covert financial system and illegal shipping operations. These networks have reportedly been used to transfer billions of dollars annually from Iranian oil and petrochemical sales.

The Treasury Department stated that the designated entities include Iran-affiliated persons and currency exchange houses that facilitate access to the international financial system for sanctioned Iranian actors.

In a separate action, the United States also imposed sanctions on four members of the Global Samood Flotilla, a group involved in carrying aid to Gaza. Washington did not immediately provide further details on the designation of the flotilla members.

The latest measures underscore the U.S. government’s continued pressure campaign against Iran’s economy and its regional activities.
