Health authorities confirmed 26 new fatalities as the outbreak accelerates across parts of the Central African nation. In response, the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the situation a global health emergency to contain the virus.
Medical sources indicate that limited primary healthcare facilities are hampering the timely detection of new Ebola cases, allowing the virus to spread undetected in remote communities.
Meanwhile, Jordan has imposed a travel ban on passengers arriving from the Democratic Republic of Congo and neighboring Uganda. The country’s official news agency stated the measure aims to protect the region from the epidemic.
WHO officials continue to urge international support to strengthen surveillance and treatment capacity in the affected zones.
