Washington, United States – Web Desk: The United States Navy’s largest and most advanced aircraft carrier, USS Gerald R. Ford, has been facing repeated failures in its sewage system, according to foreign media reports.
Commissioned in 2017 at a cost of around $13 billion, the carrier’s advanced vacuum-based sewage system has experienced frequent blockages, affecting its crew of about 4,600 personnel.
The issues were reported during operations near Venezuela’s coast in 2025 and have continued into 2026. Since 2023, the ship has reportedly required external technical assistance at least 42 times to address the recurring malfunctions.
The latest reports have emerged as the carrier’s deployment has been extended amid rising tensions in the Middle East and preparations for potential operations against Iran.
US Navy officials said the technical problems have not affected the vessel’s combat capability and that the ship remains fully operational and mission-ready.
