Moscow, Russia – Web Desk: A bomb explosion near a major railway station in Russia’s capital Moscow has killed a police officer and the suspected attacker, while two other officers were injured, authorities said on Tuesday.
According to Russia’s Interior Ministry, the blast occurred outside the Savyolovsky railway station, a major transport hub in central Moscow, during the morning hours. The attacker reportedly approached a police patrol vehicle and detonated an explosive device, killing himself instantly.
One traffic police officer was killed in the explosion, while two other officers sustained injuries and were rushed to hospital for medical treatment. Their condition has not been disclosed.
The Interior Ministry has launched an investigation into the incident. Authorities have not yet identified the attacker or determined the motive behind the bombing. Security measures have been tightened around key transport facilities in Moscow following the incident.
