Two Brothers Drown in Canal While Escaping Heat in Sindh

Date:

Larkana, Pakistan – Web Desk: Two young brothers drowned while bathing in a canal in Daur, located in Shaheed Benazirabad, as they attempted to escape the intense heat, officials said on Friday.

The victims were identified as 12-year-old Hasan Shah and his younger brother Fida Hussain Shah. According to initial reports, the children entered the canal to cool off but accidentally moved into deeper water.

Rescue teams were dispatched to the site after receiving reports of the incident. Authorities confirmed that the body of Hasan Shah has been recovered, while search operations are ongoing to locate his brother.

Eyewitnesses said the حادثہ occurred suddenly, leaving little time for intervention as the children struggled in strong currents.

Officials have urged parents to exercise caution and prevent children from bathing in canals and other open water bodies, especially during extreme weather conditions and heatwaves.

The incident highlights the dangers posed by سندھ’s canal system during peak summer months, when rising temperatures often drive people to unsafe water sources.
