ANKARA – Web Desk: Turkey has offered assistance in clearing mines from the Strait of Hormuz following the US-Iran agreement, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced.
Speaking to reporters, Fidan said Turkey could consider participating in mine-clearing operations in the strategic waterway after the peace deal. “Technical teams from various countries will carry out this work,” he stated, adding that Turkey would have no problem taking part in the mine-clearing operations.
The Turkish foreign minister further said Turkey views such steps positively as a humanitarian responsibility.
The offer comes amid efforts to restore safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for global oil shipments.
