Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Turkey has actively engaged with officials from Pakistan and Afghanistan to help resolve the recent border tensions between the two countries. Qatar has also separately undertaken diplomatic efforts to mediate the situation.
During escalating hostilities, Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan contacted Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and subsequently spoke with Afghanistan’s acting Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi. Fidan also held phone discussions with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister to explore avenues for resolving the dispute.
Qatar’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs similarly reached out individually to the foreign ministers of Pakistan and Afghanistan. Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, offered a sincere role in mediating between the two nations. Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister provided Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister with updates on the recent developments.
China expressed deep concern over the escalating tensions through Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning, urging both countries to resolve the matter promptly. Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Badr Abdelatty, also discussed potential resolutions with Ishaq Dar. Russia has voiced its concern over the situation, while the United States has yet to issue a clear statement.
These coordinated international efforts underscore the global focus on stabilizing the region and preventing further escalation along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
