Trump says Iran agreement signing today will reopen the Strait of Hormuz

Date:

Washington, United States – Web Desk: U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that a major agreement with Iran will be signed on Sunday, saying it would lead to the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz for all countries.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said the deal would mark a significant shift in relations between Washington and Tehran and reduce tensions in the region.

He stated that Iran would no longer seek to acquire nuclear weapons and would be prevented from developing, purchasing, or obtaining them in any form under the proposed agreement.

According to Trump, once the agreement is signed, the Strait of Hormuz—one of the world’s most critical shipping and energy transit routes—would be opened to global maritime traffic, easing concerns over international trade disruptions.

The U.S. president also said relations between the United States and Iran were now better than under any previous administration, adding that recent developments indicate a significant reduction in regional tensions.

Trump further said that once conditions stabilize, Iran’s nuclear material would be gradually reduced and eliminated, either within Iran or through removal. He described the process as expected to be “quick, smooth, and cooperative,” while warning that the United States retains a final option if progress fails.

He also reiterated criticism of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal (JCPOA) under former President Barack Obama, claiming it brought Iran closer to nuclear capability, while arguing that the current proposal would prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons altogether.

Meanwhile, diplomatic sources say negotiations involving the United States, Iran, and mediators including Pakistan have reached an advanced stage, with a draft ceasefire agreement reportedly closer to completion than ever before.
