Washington, United States – Web Desk: US President Donald Trump said any Iranian attack on American forces could provide grounds for renewed military action, as tensions between Washington and Tehran remain high.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said the United States would not allow Iran to obtain nuclear weapons. He added that a deal with Tehran could lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and suggested details of any agreement would become clear soon.
Trump said he did not currently seek a meeting with Iran’s Supreme Leader, but added that such a meeting could be possible if a deal were reached. He also argued that the United States could secure enriched uranium supplies without entering into an agreement with Iran.
On regional issues, Trump said the situation in Lebanon required close monitoring and that peace would benefit the country. He said discussions had taken place regarding conditions in Lebanon and the role of Hezbollah.
The U.S. president also addressed the war in Ukraine, saying a meeting between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Vladimir Putin would be positive and that reconciliation was necessary to resolve the conflict. He further said a trade deal with India could be reached soon.
