Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Pakistan’s power regulator has increased electricity prices by Rs1.19 per unit across the country, including Karachi, under the Fuel Price Adjustment (FPA) mechanism for April 2026.
According to a notification issued by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), the increase will apply to electricity consumers nationwide, including K-Electric customers, and will be reflected in June electricity bills.
The adjustment follows a request by the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA), which had sought an increase of Rs1.73 per unit for April’s fuel cost adjustment.
Meanwhile, NEPRA also announced a reduction of Rs1.98 per unit under the first quarterly adjustment of 2026. The relief will be available to consumers through electricity bills issued in June, July, and August.
The regulator said the quarterly adjustment would provide more than Rs67 billion in relief to consumers over the three-month period. The reduction will apply nationwide, including K-Electric customers, but lifeline consumers will remain exempt.
The latest decision reflects ongoing efforts to balance fuel cost fluctuations while providing financial relief through periodic tariff adjustments.
