Washington, United States – Web Desk: U.S. President Donald Trump has sharply criticized Pope Leo, describing the Catholic Church leader as “weak and dangerous,” a statement that is expected to trigger global reactions across religious and diplomatic circles.
In his remarks, Trump said he was “not a big fan” of Pope Leo and accused him of having a weak stance on crime and an ineffective approach to foreign policy issues.
The comments come amid broader geopolitical statements by the U.S. president, including renewed assertions that the ceasefire with Iran remains in place. Trump said Washington and Tehran had engaged in approximately 21 hours of negotiations, although he expressed indifference over whether Iran returns to the negotiating table.
He also claimed that the United States holds larger oil reserves than Russia and Saudi Arabia and reiterated that the Strait of Hormuz remains under blockade conditions, preventing Iran from exporting oil to global markets.
Trump further stated that Iran would not be allowed to develop nuclear weapons and claimed that recent U.S. operations have significantly weakened Iran’s naval and military capabilities, including the destruction of several naval vessels.
Analysts say Trump’s remarks could intensify already high tensions between Washington and Tehran while also sparking renewed debate at religious and diplomatic levels due to his criticism of a senior Catholic figure.
