Titanic Survivor Life Jacket Sells for Record Rs25 Crore

Date:

London, United Kingdom – Web Desk: A life jacket worn by a passenger who survived the sinking of the RMS RMS Titanic has been sold at auction for a record-breaking price of £904,500 (over PKR 250 million), according to a British auction house.

The auction was conducted by Henry Aldridge & Son, which said the item exceeded expectations, as it had been estimated to sell for significantly less.

The life jacket was reportedly worn by passenger Laura Mabel during the disaster in April 1912, when the Titanic struck an iceberg during its maiden voyage from the United Kingdom to the United States and sank in the North Atlantic Ocean.

Historical records show that more than 1,500 people lost their lives in the tragedy, while around 700 passengers were rescued. The ship, once described as “unsinkable,” remains one of the most famous maritime disasters in history.

Experts say the artifact is part of a rare collection of Titanic memorabilia, many of which continue to attract strong interest from collectors and museums worldwide.

The auction house said the item carried significant historical value, noting that each artifact linked to the Titanic tells a personal story of the passengers and crew aboard the ill-fated voyage.

The buyer’s identity was not disclosed. The life jacket had previously been displayed in a museum in Belfast before being sold at auction.
