Washington, United States – Web Desk: US President Donald Trump has called a high-level national security meeting at the White House amid escalating tensions with Iran and stalled diplomatic efforts over Tehran’s nuclear program.
According to US media reports, the meeting is expected to focus on Washington’s next strategic steps, including possible military and diplomatic options regarding Iran.
Reports suggest that after recent negotiations failed to produce a breakthrough, officials in Washington increasingly believe Iran is unwilling to show sufficient flexibility on nuclear-related demands. As a result, the US administration is reportedly considering new measures to increase pressure on Tehran.
Sources familiar with the discussions said President Trump continues to prefer a diplomatic agreement that could limit Iran’s nuclear activities and avoid a large-scale regional conflict. However, following the rejection of key US demands, military options have reportedly regained attention within the White House.
Senior officials expected to attend the meeting include Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, White House envoy Steve Witkoff, and top military commanders.
According to reports, proposals under discussion include reactivating maritime surveillance operations in the Strait of Hormuz and considering strikes on previously identified Iranian targets that have not yet been acted upon.
Meanwhile, Israeli officials are also said to be urging Washington to consider special operations aimed at neutralizing Iran’s enriched uranium stockpiles. However, President Trump is reportedly cautious about the risks associated with any wider military escalation.
Analysts believe the upcoming US decisions on Iran could also influence President Trump’s expected visit to China, as Washington seeks to maintain diplomatic balance before any major regional development.
