Washington, United States – Web Desk: The United States has deployed a nuclear-capable Ohio-class submarine to Gibraltar amid rising tensions in the Middle East, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz, where regional security concerns continue to escalate.
According to international media reports, the submarine — regarded as one of the most secretive and powerful assets in the US defense system — arrived in Gibraltar as tensions between the United States and Iran intensified.
The US Navy confirmed that the Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine is capable of launching nuclear warhead-equipped missiles from sea, making it a key pillar of America’s strategic deterrence capabilities.
The Pentagon described the submarine’s arrival as a demonstration of Washington’s commitment to NATO allies and regional security. The vessel is commonly referred to as a “boomer” in military terminology.
The deployment comes as uncertainty grows over diplomatic efforts involving Iran. Earlier, former US President Donald Trump reportedly rejected new ceasefire proposals sent by Tehran, calling them “foolish,” according to media reports.
Tensions in the region have remained high following military developments near the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy shipping route. Analysts warn that any further escalation could impact global oil markets and international maritime security.
