Stranded T20 World Cup Teams in India Set to Fly Home

Date:

Mumbai, India – Web Desk: Cricket teams stranded in India after the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup due to rising tensions in the Middle East are set to return home after the International Cricket Council arranged special charter flights.

According to reports, the national teams of England national cricket team, South Africa national cricket team and West Indies cricket team will depart India on ICC-provided charter aircraft following disruptions caused by regional geopolitical tensions.

The England team, which was eliminated in the semi-final after losing to India national cricket team, is scheduled to depart from Mumbai for London later on Friday evening.

Meanwhile, the West Indies and South Africa squads are expected to leave from Kolkata on separate charter flights on Saturday.

Members of the South African team, including captain Keshav Maharaj, along with players Jason Smith and George Linde and members of the coaching staff, are set to travel to New Zealand for an upcoming limited-overs series beginning on March 15.

The West Indies team had remained in Kolkata for six days following their final match of the tournament, while the South African squad was also stranded in the city after losing their semi-final to New Zealand national cricket team.

The charter flights are expected to ease travel disruptions and allow players and staff to return to international cricket commitments.
