Madrid, Spain – Web Desk: Spain has formally recalled its ambassador from Israel in protest against Israeli military actions in Gaza and recent US-Israel operations targeting Iran. The decision follows a recommendation from Spain’s Foreign Minister and approval by the cabinet, resulting in the termination of Ambassador Ana Maria Salomon Perez’s posting to Israel.
In the interim, the embassy in Israel will be headed by a chargé d’affaires. Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez stated that Spain does not support the ongoing military operations against Iran and condemned attacks in Gaza.
Spain has been among the few European governments consistently criticizing Israeli military actions in Gaza. In October last year, the Spanish parliament imposed permanent restrictions on the sale of weapons, military equipment, and dual-use technology to Israel, citing their use in Gaza.
The move signals Spain’s firm stance on regional military escalation and underscores its commitment to diplomacy and humanitarian concerns in the Middle East.
