Snow blankets the north, deepening chill at tourist hotspots

Date:

NARAN (Web-Desk) – Snowfall in the tourist regions of Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has further intensified the cold weather.

Snowfall continues intermittently over the mountains of Gilgit-Baltistan, with intermittent flurries continuing on the peaks of Babusar, Nanga Parbat, and Batogah. Over a dozen vehicles have been trapped in the snow.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, snowfall was also reported in the mountainous areas of Swat, Dir, and Kalam, while the first winter rain and hailstorm in the Upper Hazara Division further deepened the chill, making daytime feel like night.

Ayubia, Nathiagali, Changlagali, and other upper Galyat regions have received 2 to 3 inches of snow.

Meanwhile, rain and snowfall from Muzaffarabad to the Neelum Valley have made the weather even colder. Authorities have advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during the harsh weather conditions.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has forecast more intermittent rain and snowfall in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa today and has instructed district administrations to remain on alert and take precautionary measures.
