Karachi, Pakistan – Web Desk: The provincial government of Sindh has announced a public holiday across the province on the occasion of Jummat‑ul‑Wida, according to senior officials.
Provincial Minister for Local Government Nasir Hussain Shah confirmed that the Government of Sindh has approved a general holiday to allow citizens to observe the religious occasion.
The minister also announced that a major road in Karachi will be named after Ali Khamenei, though further details about the specific location have not yet been disclosed.
At the same time, authorities clarified that permission will not be granted for rallies on Shahrah‑e‑Faisal, one of the city’s busiest highways. Religious and political organizations have been instructed to hold processions along their traditional and approved routes.
The announcement comes as security arrangements are being tightened across the city for religious processions linked to Youm‑e‑Ali.
Processions are scheduled to take place in several cities across Pakistan, including Karachi, where authorities have implemented traffic restrictions and security measures.
In central Karachi, particularly in the Saddar district, multiple roads and streets have been temporarily closed using containers to ensure security and crowd management during the processions.
Officials said the measures are aimed at maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of participants and residents during the religious observances.
