Islamabad, Pakistan — Web Desk: Shehbaz Sharif has written a letter to Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, expressing condolences over the death of his father, Ali Khamenei, and congratulating him on assuming the country’s top leadership role.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office Pakistan, Sharif said Pakistan stands in solidarity with Iran’s leadership and people during what he described as a difficult time.
In his message, the Pakistani prime minister conveyed condolences on behalf of the people of Pakistan to the Iranian nation and the wider Muslim world following the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Sharif said the people of Pakistan were deeply saddened by the loss and reaffirmed that Islamabad stands with Iran during this challenging period.
Congratulating Mojtaba Khamenei on assuming the responsibilities of Supreme Leader, Sharif expressed hope that under his leadership Iran would move toward peace, stability, dignity, and prosperity in the coming years.
He also emphasized that relations between Pakistan and Iran are rooted in shared faith, history, culture, and language.
Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to continuing close cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran to further strengthen bilateral ties and expand collaboration across areas of mutual interest.
The prime minister also offered prayers for Mojtaba Khamenei’s health and success, and for peace, stability, and prosperity for the people of Iran.
