Washington, United States — Web Desk: Donald Trump has warned that the United States could launch far stronger military strikes if Iran attempts to disrupt global oil supplies through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
Speaking to reporters in the U.S. state of Florida, Trump said Washington would respond with attacks “20 times stronger” if Iran tried to block oil shipments passing through the narrow Gulf waterway, one of the world’s most critical energy transit routes.
The U.S. president added that several key Iranian targets, including electricity-generation facilities, had not yet been struck but could be targeted if necessary.
When asked how soon the war could end, Trump said a resolution might come quickly but was unlikely to happen within the current week.
In a separate interview with Fox News, Trump said the United States remains open to negotiations with Iran, depending on the conditions of potential talks.
“I have received reports that Iran may want to negotiate,” Trump said, adding that Washington would consider dialogue if acceptable terms were presented.
Trump also criticized Iran’s new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, suggesting he may struggle to maintain stability and peace in the region.
Meanwhile, Iran’s powerful military body, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, said Tehran would decide when the conflict ends. Iranian officials warned that if U.S. and Israeli strikes continue, they could halt oil exports from the region entirely.
The escalating confrontation has already rattled global energy markets. Oil prices briefly surged to around $120 per barrel amid fears of supply disruption before easing back to approximately $90 per barrel.
Analysts say the risk of instability around the Strait of Hormuz — through which roughly a fifth of the world’s oil supply passes — continues to weigh heavily on international markets.
