In a statement shared on social media, Afridi expressed deep sorrow over the killing of Maulana Idris in a targeted attack, describing it as a “cowardly act.” He said the scholar’s contributions to religious education and society would be remembered for years to come.
“Such a beacon of knowledge and righteousness will always be remembered,” Afridi wrote, adding hope that those responsible for the attack would soon be brought to justice. He also offered prayers for the elevation of the deceased’s status and patience for his family.
Maulana Idris was killed in an attack in Charsadda, sparking widespread condemnation and grief across Pakistan from religious, political, and public figures.
