Dhaka, Bangladesh – Web Desk: Pakistan’s white-ball captain Shaheen Shah Afridi has set his sights on reaching the ICC World Test Championship Final, while acknowledging the team’s recent struggles in the longest format.
Speaking at a pre-series press conference in Dhaka ahead of the Test series against Bangladesh, Afridi said Pakistan is not satisfied with its current Test performances and must improve to compete at the highest level.
“It is not easy to return to Test cricket after a long break, but we are ready for the challenge,” he said, adding that the team is focused on moving forward and delivering stronger results.
Afridi emphasized that conditions will not be an excuse, stating that Pakistan will aim to perform regardless of the pitch. He noted that on greener surfaces, bowlers like Mohammad Abbas and Khurram Shehzad could play a key role.
Commenting on Bangladesh, Afridi acknowledged the presence of experienced bowling coach Shane Tait and the strong form of their bowlers, but expressed confidence in Pakistan’s preparations.
He concluded by stressing the need for greater focus on Test cricket, calling for consistent performances as Pakistan aims to climb the rankings and secure a place in the World Test Championship final.
